Silicone Masterbatch vs Alternative Lubricants: Total Cost Analysis

At only 2%-3% loading, UHMW siloxane masterbatch beats amide slip agents on durability, undercuts PTFE on cost and enables 10%-20% throughput gain on PE lines while reaching COF ~0.1 on PA wear parts.

Silicone Masterbatch Dosage for PP and PE: Start at 2%, Scale by Target

For most PP andPE compounds, start at 2% silicone masterbatch within a 1.5%-3% window; raise to 3%-5% on DX752B for scratch-critical interiors where surface COF falls from ~0.4 to ~0.2.

Silicone Masterbatch by Substrate: PP, PE, PA and TPE Compared

PP interiors need 3%-5% DX752B (COF 0.4 to 0.2), PE cable needs 1.5%-2.5% for 10%-20% throughput gain, PA wear parts reach COF ~0.1, TPE/EVA soles use 2%-4% 207B (COF 0.55 to 0.35).

How Silicone Masterbatch Improves Wear, Scratch and Lubrication: Mechanisms

UHMW siloxane migrates to the surface and forms a lubricating film: PP scratch COF falls 0.4 to 0.2, shoe COF 0.55 to 0.35, PA wear parts reach COF ~0.1, and PE extrusion gains 10%-20% throughput.

Processing Silicone Masterbatch: Temperature Window, Extrusion and Throughput

Run silicone masterbatch at 180-260C melt (additive stable to ~280C); PE extrusion gains 10%-20% throughput at 1.5%-2.5% loading, with lower torque and cooler head temperature.
