Wire & Cable Lubricants and Silicone Masterbatch Solutions

Black cable with silicone masterbatch pellets for wire and cable extrusion

Die build-up on the tip, matte or scratched cable surfaces, and line speed that cannot go any higher — these are daily headaches in cable extrusion. Xiangxi's wire & cable lubricant masterbatch lowers the surface friction coefficient of sheathing compounds so extrusion runs faster and cleaner, while our silicone masterbatches improve abrasion resistance of finished cable skins for data cables, new-energy vehicle cables and building wire.

Key Challenges in Wire & Cable Production

  • Die build-up and melt fracture — deposits at the die tip force downtime for cleaning and create surface defects.
  • High friction coefficient — cable skins scratch easily during winding, pulling and installation.
  • Limited line speed — poor melt flow caps extrusion output and raises energy cost per km.
  • Abrasion in dynamic applications — EV and robot cables need skins that survive repeated bending and rubbing.
  • Compliance — halogen-free and RoHS/REACH requirements restrict many conventional lubricants.

Recommended Xiangxi Solutions

1. Wire & Cable Lubricants Masterbatch

Our dedicated wire & cable lubricant masterbatch reduces the dynamic friction coefficient of the compound in the die and of the finished skin outside it. Typical results reported by customers: longer continuous run time without die cleaning, smoother cable surface gloss and 10–20% higher line speed at the same power draw.

2. Silicone Masterbatch for Sheathing Compounds

Ultra-high molecular weight siloxane masterbatch disperses finely in PE, LSZH and TPE sheathing systems, improving abrasion resistance, demolding and surface smoothness without affecting electrical properties.

3. Non-Carrier Silicone Powder

For high-temperature and engineering-resin cable systems (PA, TPU), our carrier-free silicone powder provides lubrication and fiber-free surfaces with no carrier compatibility risk.

Applications & Results

Cable TypeBenefit with Xiangxi Additives
High-speed data cables (LAN, HDMI)Lower skin friction, stable concentricity, reduced surface scratches
New-energy vehicle (EV) cablesImproved abrasion resistance and flexibility of TPE sheathing
Building wire (LSZH)Smoother extrusion, less die build-up, higher line speed
Telecom and fiber optic cablesConsistent low-friction sheath for easy duct installation

Why Cable Makers Choose Xiangxi

Xiamen Xiangxi New Material Co., Ltd. is a national-level high-tech enterprise founded in 2016, producing silicone-based processing aids under ISO9001 with 8+ production lines and 20,000+ tons/year capacity. Our wire & cable lubricants are REACH and RoHS compliant, and our engineers support on-site trials to match grade and dosage (typically 0.5–2%) to your extrusion line and compound.

FAQ — Wire & Cable

How much lubricant masterbatch should I add to an LSZH sheathing compound?

Most customers run 0.5–2% depending on the base resin and filler loading. Start at 1% and adjust against die build-up interval and surface gloss during a short trial.

Will the lubricant affect the electrical or mechanical properties of the cable?

No. The addition level is small and the siloxane is finely dispersed; volume resistivity, tensile and elongation remain within standard test limits.

Can I use it in halogen-free (LSZH) systems?

Yes. Our cable lubricants are compatible with LSZH formulations and are REACH/RoHS compliant, supporting low-smoke halogen-free cable programs.
